An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 jolted Nusa Dua in Bali in the early
hours of Friday morning causing panic across the province. There was
no immediate report of injuries or damage. The Meteorology,
Climatology and Geophysics Agency recorded that the quake struck 210
kilometers off the coast southwest of Nusa Dua, at 10 kilometers
beneath the surface, at 2:43 a.m. local time. Antara state news
agency reported the quake was felt in Denpasar on Bali Island and on
adjacent island of Lombok. Ana, a resident of Monang Maning housing
complex in Denpasar said that many people in the area got up and ran
out of their houses when the quake hit. |
